The Firm
CBSA/Charles Beckman Swanson Architects was established in New Haven,
Connecticut in 1981 as "Charles Beckman Swanson AIA Architect", by Beck
Swanson. The firm name was revised in 1985 to reflect an expanded
professional staff. CBSA provides a full range of Architectural services,
including energy-responsive and barrier-free design, to a varied clientele.
Our project experience is diverse, including: municipal and government
facilities and planning; public and private institutional, recreational and
educational facilities; medical and laboratory facilities; office buildings;
commercial stores and warehouses; banks; and single- and multi-family
housing. These projects consistently have shared the need to weigh
programmatic, design, and construction methods and materials decisions
against aesthetic, functional, and budgetary goals.
The principal and staff of Charles Beckman Swanson Architects are
dedicated to providing competent professional services with an emphasis on
planning and design excellence, while maintaining a sensitivity to pragmatic,
"real-world" issues. We believe that problem-solving is achieved
through design, and that design solutions must go beyond simply accommodating
a function. The most satisfying design solutions provide both pleasure and
utility to the client, user, and community through a balanced and responsible
application of project resources.
CBSA/Charles Beckman Swanson Architects has been committed to
Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) capabilities since 1986, and the speed and
flexibility afforded by this computer technology has greatly enhanced our
abilities to respond to the programmatic and scheduling needs of our clients.
